Meet the experts behind the NeuWave vision, shaping the future of climate resilience from our home in the UK. Our in-house expertise spans oceanography, systems, AI innovations, and computer science.
Want to learn more about how NeuWave’s founders combine industry knowledge and cutting-edge technology to revolutionise environmental data and drive the renewable energy transition? You’re in the right place!

Where did it all begin?
First conceived of in Manchester, where the three NeuWave founders first met and built a lasting friendship, NeuWave’s climate-first attitude is a direct result of the highly industrialised city. Despite being at the heart of renewables research efforts, heavy industry is in the very bones of Manchester – from its origins and history, to the present day.
We haven’t forgotten where we came from, and at NeuWave our vision is centred in bridging industry and research within offshore renewables transition.
In the UK, planning construction and operations and maintenance O&M tasks for wind farms is hindered by a lack of accessible, comprehensive data on tides, wind waves, and surface wind conditions.
The goal here at NeuWave is to provide precise, actionable environmental intelligence tools to essential offshore industry; offshore wind, service vessel navigation, and everything else offshore that keeps our modern world moving.
Meet the team…
Each member of our founding team has a diverse, complementary skill set – that makes them dynamic business partners, and great friends.
So, let’s see how that works.
The brains of the operation – Jana Stella
NeuWave truly began when Jana was studying for her PhD in environmental engineering – where she developed early versions of the AI offshore wave models that would go on to power the NeuWave vision.
Jana’s original PhD project was to develop a 100-year predictive model at 500m resolution of Britain’s coastal behaviour to assess the climate for wave and wind energy. Quickly realising that there was no sufficient data available to complete the project, she worked to develop her own deep learning models to achieve this.
Alongside her PhD work, Jana focused on applying the same deep learning technology of making high resolution historical coastal models, offering deep insight into future conditions.
Ultimately realising that the renewable energy transition was high-risk largely because of poor quality and fragmented data, the idea for NeuWave was planted. Jana’s combined academic background in environmental engineering, applied mathematics, and philosophy have given her a unique and distinct perspective that have in-turn shaped NeuWave’s core mission: to empower climate resilience with trusted, reliable data.
This doesn’t just happen in theory, though; it takes a lot of groundwork.
She attends conferences and exhibitions around the UK and across Europe, and if there’s a face to NeuWave, it’s Jana’s.
Perfecting customer experience – Lucas Martin
Lucas is a highly skilled full stack web developer, with an extensive background in customer experience and interactive tool development – without him, none of the NeuWave products would work at all.
Having years of experience in both customer experience and the start-up space, Lucas provides essential insights as well as technical expertise that truly brings NeuWave to life. Having met Jana over 6 years ago, then moving to Singapore, he moved back to Manchester in 2024 to get the ball rolling with what would go on to become NeuWave.
Lucas brings a user-focused approach to NeuWave products, and helps make sure everything stays consistent. This is why our users know what to expect, and are able to use the online tools intuitively.
Those embedded tools, the smooth website experience? You can thank Lucas!
Optimising operations and systems – Chris Wright
From coding to all-out operations – Chris focuses on systems and management, bringing everything together and making sure things run smoothly.
Chris has an academic background in quantum computing development, but his real expertise lies in optimising code and processes for large systems. He streamlines everything – from how NeuWave products work, to how we approach team development. Chris’ sharp problem-solving skills and methodical approach to operations ensure that every part of the business functions at its highest potential.
His ability to manage complexity while maintaining clarity keeps the company agile and responsive to the ever-evolving renewable energy sector.
With Chris at the helm of operational optimisation, NeuWave runs like a well-oiled machine, ready to tackle the future of offshore renewables with efficiency and precision.
Where are we heading?
Thanks to the combined expertise and experience of our founding team, NeuWave is uniquely positioned to drive the future of offshore environmental intelligence. Our no-code online platform and cutting-edge EI tools provide seamless access to research-grade wave data at an industry scale, bridging the gap between academic research and real-world application.
As the demand for reliable, high-quality environmental data in the offshore wind sector grows, NeuWave continues to lead the way in empowering climate resilience.
The NeuWave team is committed to expanding and refining our tools to ensure that they not only meet current industry needs but anticipate the challenges of tomorrow’s renewable energy landscape. By continually improving our predictive models, optimising operational systems, and enhancing the user experience, we are building a more sustainable, data-driven future.
